Souls for Soles
Souls For Soles
This photographic collection is made up of the bottoms of twelve different people’s feet . The goal was to create a story about the trials and tribulations of human life solely through the creases and folds of our own skin. To highlight this, Taylor decided to go with a black and white filter. The coloring brings a level of depth to the piece as well, not only by emphasizing the physical curves and edges, but also giving the collection a more serious tone. The human body is the canvas that life expresses itself onto, which is why Taylor chose it as thought the subject for this project.
Through the process of capturing these photos Taylor discovered the more “worn” the foot the more aesthetic it is on camera. This project relied on the imperfect details of a body to tell a story. So she approached her subjects when they had just gotten off work or just got done walking home from school in order to capture the authenticity of daily life’s effects on their feet.
