Various Forms
Various Forms
With this project Taylor wanted to explore the many variations of a bubble. Up to this point, she was fascinated with reflective light and how one can manipulate it through the lens. So she went exploring for the many different forms a bubble can take, ranging from gum to spit. The result was an eclectic collection of shapes and patterns in which the bubble manifests itself in the world around us.
Collecting subjects was a new type of scavenger hunt. At the end of the day a bubble is a bubble. But she had to start asking herself, “what produces it?” and then chasing that catalyst. The pre production of this project was where the effort came in. Taylor had to find a fish tank bubbler, a bath bomb, and someone who would let her photograph them blowing spit bubbles. The angles and camera mechanics were a blend of experimentation and gut feeling, leading to each bubble being photographed as a unique individual.
